The Suggestion Box

Window Washing

Now that we are renovating the library, it might be an appropriate time to clean the atrium skylights; they’re pretty cruddy.

drp Thanks for the suggestion. The skylights were cleaned last year during 3rd floor renovations, and they are regularly cleaned by Drexel’s facilities management. Most of the stuff you see on the glass is from general wear and tear and can’t be removed unless (or until) we replace the glass.

Library Tree

Please bring back the tree that was in the lobby. It was beautiful and studies show that people are happier around plants.

Thanks for the suggestion. We miss the tree—it made us happy too. When building renovations began, we removed the tree to protect it. Renovations continue and are ongoing. We are considering new plans for greenery throughout the building, but, because of the renovation schedule, we will not be implementing them for another year or so.

Our Namesake

Do not disrespect the man the library is named after, a former school president, by putting his statue between the toilets!

Thank you for your suggestion. We are proud to be named after William Walsh Hagerty, and we honor his memory. Renovations here at the library have been constant for many months now, and we have had to move our Hagerty bust several times to keep it safe from the possibility of damage. The bust is currently located in an area that it both safe from renovation and prominent. It is currently visible to all patrons as they walk through the building’s main entrance. We also have a painting of Hagerty, which is in protected storage until renovations are complete.
