American Planning Association (APA) is devoted to the career and professional development for urban planners. This is a great option for students considering careers in urban and environmental development The organization’s website has a job board, a salary survey summary and a page for professional development.
- Association of Ecosystem Research Centers
The Association of Ecosystem Research Centers (AERC) is a collection of 43 research programs throughout the U.S. that specialize in ecosystem research. While this organization does not have a job board, it does provide a list of those organizations with links to their sites so you can research them further.
- City Parks Alliance
A political advocacy organization focused on promoting and developing urban parks in American cities. They provide a list of member agencies and organizations, forms of advocacy and an urban parks-related job board including opportunities within the City Parks Organization.
- Clean Air Task Force
Political organization focusing on public policy regulating pollutants from Coal and Gas power plants. Located in several offices throughout the United States and in China, it is a good organization for those trying to make a political impact on the environment. Check out their internship and job pages to find opportunities to assist with the cause.
Focused on providing assistance for the profession of Environmental, Health and Safety managers, NAEM supports corporations in developing and sustaining environmentally friendly work places and business practices. In addition to a number of professional development resources, they offer a job board and a company search.
- National Association of Environmental Professionals
The National Association of Environmental Professions (NAEP) is a multi-disciplinary association dedicated to the advancement of environmental professionals. Located in Collingswood, NJ, it’s website has a Job Board where you can post your resume and look for posted positions. Also, check out their Calendar of Events and Chapters to look for upcoming networking events near you.
- Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals
The Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professions (PAEP), an association dedicated to environmental education, research and planning for the state of Pennsylvania, provides a lot of resources for those interested in remaining in PA. In addition to a number of programs throughout the state, PAEP also offers a Job Board and Resume posting service.

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is a professional association devoted to the advocacy and promotion of green building methods and materials. While the site does not list jobs, it does provide links to the Green Building community and directory, information on LEED certification and advocacy initiatives.
