The Hahnemann Library participates in Loansome Doc, a document delivery service available through the National Library of Medicine. Loansome Doc is a document ordering feature for PubMed™ users. We offer this service to both affiliated users (Drexel University faculty, staff and students) and unaffiliated users (individuals who are not affiliated with a university or hospital library, but who need to obtain medical-related journal articles).

Loansome Doc patrons must sign a registration form at the participating library to obtain the LIBID (library id code), and then use this code to register to order documents through PubMed. Loansome Doc patrons will be asked to enter their address, select a delivery method (e-mail, fax, mail, or pickup), and create a User ID and password to be used each time they log in to order articles.

Article requests will either be filled at the library or sent out through interlibrary loan if the library cannot fill the request. The length of time it takes for articles to arrive ranges from under a week to month, depending on the availability of the journals and how the articles are delivered.

Charges

  • Drexel faculty, staff, residents and students: free
  • Alumni and non-Drexel affiliated individuals:  $20.00, with a $20.00 per article surcharge for RUSH service (1 to 2 working days)
  • For-profit libraries and individuals: $20 per article ($40 as of 8/15/2006) with a $20.00 per article surcharge for RUSH service ($40 as of 8/15/2006)
