Milestones in Transforming Drexel University Libraries

	DESCRIPTION OF EVENT
	Staff Meetings On Thursday, April 5th and Monday, April 9th all Libraries' staff participated in meetings to discuss the 2012-2017 Strategic Plan and brainstorm ideas, initiatives and individual goals to further support the Libraries' initiatives.
	2012 - 2017 Strategic Plan Announced The Libraries' 2012 - 2017 Strategic Plan was officially announced and distributed beginning in April 2012. You can Download the Strategic Plan Brochure as a PDF or view the plan online.
	Make it Yours: Transforming Drexel University Libraries On Tuesday, October 25th, Dean Nitecki will present a current draft of the Libraries' proposed strategic directions for review and input from the campus community. Those unable to attend can leave comments and feedback online.
	The Libraries' Future: Advancing the Drexel University Mission and Vision Dean Danuta A. Nitecki, Ph.D., held a conversation with Academic Leaders and workshop on Stratgeic Planning at the fall 2011 Academic Council Meeting on September 28th. The presentation is available on our website. Also presented was a draft of The Libraries Future Statement.
	The Future of Drexel's Libraries: Advancing the University's Strategic Transformation Drexel University Libraries held a milestone event towards shaping the future of the organization on July 19 - 21, 2011. The event, a Future Search conference, brought together nearly 60 people, representing the diverse stakeholders of the Libraries. Attendees reviewed shared past and present experiences to reach a common ground in identifying an exciting future for the Libraries. Continue Reading... PREPARING FOR THE TRANSFORMATION
	The Inaguration of President John A. Fry At the April 14, 2011 Spotlight event, a part of the Inauguration events, the Libraries invited visitors to the booth to share a word they associated with the Libraries on a ping pong ball and place it in a glass cylinder. These words helped to give an idea of what the Drexel community most strongly associated with the Libraries. The top word was "books," but "innovative," "learning," "research," and "helpful" also were top contenders.
	Open Forum for New Library Held The Libraries welcomed over 200 students on November 11th to welcome feedback on the plans for the new bookless library.
	Staff Development & Events The Libraries held a series of all staff meetings and staff workshops to help the current staff engage in the the transformation of the Libraries.
	Space Planning 2011 At the request of the Drexel Board of Trustees, the Libraries underwent a space planning initative in 2010, evaluating the need for more library space on campus and generating potential ideas for creating more library space.
