Specialized Search Engines and Google Scholar
Specialized Search Engines
Subject Specific: There are a multitude of discipline- or subject-specific search engines or gateways. Many can be found via the subject directories or virtual libraries discussed earlier, or on the Libraries' "Search the Web" page.
Format Specific: Find audio or video files, images, and radio or tv programs with Multi-Media Search Engines as listed by SearchEngineWatch.
Google Scholar
Google Scholar deserves mention as an important tool for academic research. It uses the familiar Google interface, but restricts search results to scholarly materials such as peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from broad areas of research.
For members of the Drexel University community, the Find It@Drexel feature provides a pathway to full-text options. More about Find It@Drexel and Google Scholar.
