Fifty Drexel faculty and professional staff gathered in the Sky View Room of MacAlister Hall on Monday, March 18, 2014 for the Libraries’ eighth ScholarSip event. The event featured the research of Jonathan Spainer, PhD, who provided the evening’s food for thought.

Spanier’s presentation, titled Making the Most of the Sun, focused on his research and development of new ways to generate clean energy from nature. He engaged the audience with props to help explain a complicated process of thin film science and its applications to energy. Spanier is an associate professor of materials science and engineering and member of the new AJ Drexel Institute for Energy.

ScholarSip is a quarterly, informal event for Drexel faculty and professional staff. The event seeks to bring together individuals from across campus to join in cross-disciplinary conversations while celebrating the end of the academic term. Each event offers a brief presentation that serves as a spark for interdisciplinary conversations and connections.

The next ScholarSip event will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 and will feature the research of Genevieve Dion an assistant professor in Westphal College of Media Arts & Design and the director of the Shima Seiki Haute Technology Laboratory at Drexel University.
