Library Website Improvements for 10/9/14
Since we launched the our new website we've been gathering your feedback and making improvements. The changes we've made in the last week are detailed below. Please use our website feedback form to let us know what you think, if there are issues, etc.
Improvements to E-Resource/Database Access
The number one feedback topic has been easy access to academic databses, especially Health Sciences resources. To improve that experience in the new website we’ve made adjustments to the search box area of the website’s main page:
- Added Engineering Village to the list of databases
- Provided direct access to the new Health Sciences Library Guide in the list of Health Sciences resources via the new “More…” link
- Changed the “Databases” link to “Databases A-Z” to more accurately reflect the function of the destination page
Improved Searching of the iDEA: E-Repository & Archives from the Website
If you want to search our electronic theses or digital archives from the Libraries’ website, we’ve expanded the types of searches you can use. When the website launched, the search box only supported a keyword search in iDEA. Now, it supports title, author, and subject searches.
Adjustments to Chat Widgets and Contact Us Links
Based on feedback, it was determined that the text on our chat widget was confusing for some patrons. Previously it showed “Click to Chat” or “Click Here to Contact Us” when Chat was available or unavailable. Now it will display as “Chat” or “Chat is Offline”. We've also moved ‘Contact Us’ out of the Quick Links and placed it next to Chat in the Get Help section of the main page. When chat is offline the widget will also take users to the Contact Us page.
