News From Library Systems: Q&A With Spencer Lamm, Manager, Discovery Systems

To kick off the New Year, I sat down with our manager of discovery systems, Spencer Lamm to learn more about the work being done in the Libraries' systems department. Spencer joined the Libraries in July 2013 and hit the ground running - hiring for vacant positions, providing access to the USC Shoah Foundation's Visual History Archive, implementing redundancy and disaster recovery plans, and working with numerous teams and groups to plan for the upcoming year. If you are one of the 1.6 million visits to our website last year, the work of the systems department directly impacted you.

The Libraries Welcome: Eddie Rubeiz

On Monday, December 16th, Eddie Rubeiz joined the Libraries' systems department as the new web developer. Eddie joins the Libraries from the Columbia University Center for New Media Teaching and Learning. His primary focus will be on developing, implementing and maintaining the user-focused aspects of the Libraries web sites and applications.

Eddie's office is located in W. W. Hagerty Library.

Scheduled Course Reserves Outage - 9/4/2013

A newer version of ARES (the Libraries' course reserves system) will be installed Wednesday, September 4th. While the installation is in progress, there will be no access to library electronic course reserves. Students will be unable to access course reserves and professors will be unable to place course reserves requests. This outage will start at 9 AM and should take no longer than 2 hours.
