Get It Is Getting Better!

December 16, 2015

One of the most common frustrations we hear about from our Libraries users - students and faculty alike - is the laborious, sometimes complicated process of moving from journal article citation, to Get It menu, to that treasured full text. Drexel Libraries has implemented changes that will streamline and simplify the process. What's more, the new version is much easier to use on mobile devices like smartphones and tablets.

The new Get It process will take you - in most cases - directly to the 'best bet' for access to the desired article. 'Best bet' means that the process will prioritize access directly from the publisher's website when available, and then from those collections or aggregators that provide the most reliable and easy-to-navigate access. The page will open with a Get It 'Sidebar', which will display the original citation, offer additional options of access, and provide additional functions including emailing or exporting the citation, and contacting our Library Chat service for help.

When an article just is not available through our online collections, this message will be clearly conveyed at the top of the Get It page, with options below to search for print copies in our library catalog, or to request the article through our ILLiad Interlibrary Loan service.

We welcome your feedback on these changes, and hope that they will enhance your access to our extensive online collections.
