New Education E-Reference Book Series

Each of these series covers a sub-discipline in the field of education or some relevant methodology used in education research. What is a 'book series' in general, you might ask? Well, they are typically annual reviews of the state of the art on hot topics in their field. They are comprised of multiple entries or chapters, each of which is peer-reviewed or screened by a panel of experts for quality and relevance. In many cases the whole entire issue will have a focus on a topic, and each article takes one aspect in detail. For those that had a special focus this year I have included that title as well (see below).

The articles in a series tend to be longer than what you might find in a scholarly journal, but not necessarily. They all have extensive bibliographies and tend toward being comprehensive reviews of the literature with just a portion of new thinking by the author, rather than just expounding on one new research topic the way journal articles do typically. These annual series have not been previously available online, but are a great way to get a summary of the hot topics in each subdiscipline for the year. There is also keyword or browse access to the back issues which serves as an index to the important research and debates that have come before. There are links to each of these series titles from our main book catalog as well. But because they represent such a deep source on each subdiscipline I thought that highlighting them here was warranted as well.
