Several Library Staff Members Volunteer to Organize a North Philadelphia High School Library
On Saturday, March 29, 2014, a group of volunteers from Drexel University Libraries joined fellow librarians from the Free Library of Philadelphia, Temple University Libraries and members of the Special Libraries Association worked to help organize the library at Benjamin Franklin High School in North Philadelphia. The library had been closed for seven years after the school’s librarian position had been cut.
Organized by Kenn Mann, of the Free Library of Philadelphia, the group sorted, shelved and packed different materials in the collection. High school students will continue the work. When complete, the library will display current materials and serve as an inspiring study and program space for AP [Advanced Placement] students.
