Welcome Drexel Dragons!

September 4, 2018

Welcome to Drexel, Freshmen! Now that you’re officially a Dragon, you probably have lots of questions, including, “Where is the library and how will it help me?!”

This year, we have lots of events planned to introduce you to our rich network of resources during the University-wide Welcome Week, held September 15 – 23. From library tours to daily open houses to scavenger hunts and a “wooder ice” social during the first week of classes, these activities offer you a chance to talk with Libraries staff and explore the Drexel Libraries before you dive into classes.

Welcome Week at the Libraries: Schedule of Events

Open House at the Drexel Libraries
W. W. Hagerty Library & Hahnemann Library
Sept. 17: 12pm to 2pm
Sept. 19 – 21: 11am to 2pm

Be sure to visit the W. W. Hagerty Library and Hahnemann Libraries to find out about the amazing resources we have to offer:

  • Learn about the Libraries' print and electronic collections, including books, journals, databases, database tools, DVDs and more.
  • Meet Libraries staff and learn about our programs, workshops and other initiatives that support the Drexel community.
  • Check out laptops and chargers from the front desk or one of our self-service kiosks.
  • See a demo of the Data Visualization Zone or Drexel’s Tales of the Dragon Sound booth.
  • Grab some Drexel Libraries swag.
  • And more!

Ready. Set. College!
Library Learning Terrace, University City Campus
Wednesday, Sept. 19: 9am to 10am

Learn how using resources provided by Drexel University Libraries can help you succeed right from Week 1. You’ll also have the chance to explore the Library Learning Terrace and meet Drexel’s Personal Librarian, Elise Ferer. Elise is your go-to librarian during your first year at Drexel. She is available to help new students with everything from answering general questions about the Libraries to assisting students with research assignments to offering advice and guidance when you just don’t know what to do next.

Week One “Wooder Ice” Social
Library Learning Terrace, University City Campus
Thursday, Sept. 27: 3pm until it’s gone

Whether you're new to campus or returning after the term break, we want to welcome you to Drexel! Join the Libraries staff outside the Library Learning Terrace (ground floor of Race Hall) for good conversation and some of Philly's famous water ice (that's pronounced 'wooder ice' for you Philly newbs). Get there early - the event ends when the water ice runs out!
