Gathering reliable data on the broader engagement and reach of research can be challenging and time-consuming. Altmetric provides data and tools that enable you to monitor in real-time where your research is being talked about online as soon as it’s published.

Join the Drexel University Libraries and experts from Altmetric for a series of introductory webinars covering the basics of altmetrics and the tools and data the Altmetric Explorer offers. These sessions will feature actionable insights for Drexel communications professionals, faculty, staff, and researchers.

Session 1: Introduction to Altmetrics for Communications
Oct. 24, 12pm – 12:30pm

In this session, we’ll quickly cover Altmetric basics before diving into how you can get a better understanding of how Drexel research is being discussed online and how it is having broad influence. You’ll learn how Altmetric differs from media monitoring and how altmetrics offer powerful insight into when and where Drexel research is mentioned in government policies, patents, Wikipedia, social media, and beyond.

Session 2: Introduction to Altmetrics for Research Reputation
Oct. 31, 12pm – 12:30pm

Did you know that Drexel research has been mentioned in over 17,000 patents, 3,400 policy documents, and 26,000 news stories? In this session, you’ll learn the power of Altmetric Explorer and how Altmetric data can give you quick insight into the broad influence Drexel research is having worldwide. You’ll learn the basics, but also take away examples of how you can incorporate Altmetric data into your reports and presentations.

This session is intended for staff from the Office of Research and Innovation, ADRs, and research influencers.

Session 3: Introduction to Altmetrics for Faculty & Researchers
Nov. 7, 12pm – 12:30pm

Have you ever wondered where your research is being mentioned in the news, social media, policy documents, patents, and blogs? In this session, you’ll learn how you can use Altmetric Explorer to examine the broad reach of your research and who is talking about it. We’ll cover the basics, but also introduce how you can write impact statements about your research for CVs, grant applications, and more.

This session is intended for individual faculty and researchers.
