Printing at the Libraries

All Libraries computers are connected to a printing network. Costs for printing are:

  • B&W: 10₵ per page
  • Color: 25₵ per page

Printing from your Personal Windows Computer

Visit our Windows printer driver page and download and save the appropriate driver. If you need help determining whether your installation is x64 or regular, read this Microsoft article for more information.

We suggest the following packages, and please review all packages and select the correct one for your laptop (64- or 32-bit, etc):

  • If you are in the W. W. Hagerty Library, download 'Library_ColorDetect_Printer.'
  • If youare in the Hahnemann Library, download''CCLab_Color.'
  • If you ae in the Queen Lane Library, download 'QLCOLOR.'

When installing these drivers, you may receive a Windows SmartScreen error window. Click "Run Anyway" or "More Info" to complete the installation.

Once you've downloaded the driver file, double-click to run it. You will be able to send print jobs after the installation is completed.

Printing from your Personal MacBook

To print in the Drexel Libraries from your personal MacBook, you must add Pharos Popup Printer to your computer.

Requirements

Pharos Popup for Mac OS X has the following requirements:

  • Mac OS X 64-bit version 10.7, 10.8, 10.9, 10.10, 10.11, 10.12, 10.13 and 10.14.

Installing Popup

To install Popup, obtain the Popup installer and run it:

  1. Obtain the file Popup.dmg from Pharos Systems.
  2. Double-click the installer to create a new disk image in Finder. This disk contains the Popup installer, Popup.pkg.
  3. Double-click the installer to run it. You may be requested to authenticate yourself as an administrator.
  4. Select a destination disk. You will only be able to select the startup disk.
  5. Click Install (or Upgrade). The installer automatically installs Popup and required support files.

Pharos Popup will now be running on your computer and will be automatically launched every time you log in.

Configuring Printers

To print from one of the Drexel Libraries using your personal MacBook, you must add Pharos Popup Printer to your computer. 

  1. Open System Preferences, and click the Printers & Scanners icon.
  2. Click the + button.
  3. Hold down the Control Key, and click anywhere on the toolbar. Select Customize Toolbar on the menu that appears.
  4. Drag the Advanced icon to the toolbar. Close the customization dialog box.
  5. Click the Advanced button in the toolbar.
  6. From the Type Popup button, select Pharos Print Server.
  7. In the URL field, enter the URL for the desired Pharos Popup queue on the Pharos Print Server.
    • W. W. Hagerty Library Printing:
      • Color printing: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/Library_ColorDetect_Printer
      • Black & White: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/Library_BlackandWhite_Printer
    • Hahnemann Library Printing:
      • Color printing: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/Hahn_color
      • Black & White: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/Hahn_B&W
    • Queen Lane Library Printing:
      • Color printing: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/QLCOLOR
      • Black & White: popup://lxu-uniprint.library.drexel.edu/QLB&W
  8. In the name field, enter a name for the new printer queue. This name will appear on your laptop (i.e. "LibraryColorPrinter" or "LibraryBW").
  9. From the Use Popup button, select the type of printer associated with the Popup queue. If the desired printer is not available, select "Generic PostScript Printer."
  10. Click add. The new Popup queue will now appear in the printer list.
  11. To print to the Libraries printers, select the printer name from the Popup button in the print dialog box when using any application.

Printing at W. W. Hagerty Library

  • Select FILE and PRINT from the application you are using.
  • Printer choices are:
    • Library_BlackandWhite_Printer: for documents with no color
    • Library_ColorDetect_Printer: for documents and presentations that have color and/or black & white pages. Note: You will be charged 10₵ for any black & white pages when selecting this option.
  • Click OK and wait for Pharos Popup window to appear. Once the Popup window appears, type a name for your print job and click PRINT.
  • Go to a Library Printer (located along the wall in first floor computer area).
  • Swipe your DragonCard through the card reader.
  • Locate your print job by the name you chose previously. Click the PRINT button. Click LOG OFF to avoid other patrons from using your DragonCard funds.

If you do not have a DragonCard, you can pay to release your print jobs at the Circulation Desk.

DragonCard Loading Locations

  • DragonCard Station: Located between the printers on the first floor
  • DragonCard Office (Rm. 124) located in the Creese Student Center on Chestnut Street between 32nd and 33rd Streets
  • Online at the DragonCard Website

Printing at Hahnemann Library

  • Select FILE and PRINT from the application you are using.
  • Printer choices are:
    • CCLab B&W: for documents with no color
    • CCLab Color: for documents and presentations that have color and/or black & white pages. Note: You will be charged 10₵ for any black & white pages when selecting this option.
  • Click OK and wait for Pharos Popup window to appear. Once the Popup window appears, type a name for your print job and click PRINT.
  • Go to a Library Printer (located in front of the Circulation desk on 2nd floor and on 1st floor in the 24/7 area, located in the corner between the systems office and administrative office).
  • Swipe your DragonCard through the card reader.
  • Locate your print job by the name you chose previously. Click the PRINT button. Click LOG OFF to avoid other patrons from using your DragonCard funds.

If you do not have a DragonCard you can pay to release your print jobs at the Circulation Desk on the second floor.

DragonCard Loading Locations

  • DragonCard Station: Located in the 2nd floor silent room (behind the Circulation Desk) and on the 1st floor next to the Security desk near entrance from 15th Street (the ATM entrance)
  • Center City DragonCard Office: New College Building, Suite 1603

Printing at Queen Lane Library

  • Select FILE and PRINT from the application you are using.
  • Printer choices are:
    • QLB&W: for documents with no color
    • QLCOLOR: for documents and presentations that have color and/or black & white pages. Note: You will be charged 10₵ for any black & white pages when selecting this option.
  • Click OK and wait for Pharos Popup window to appear.  Once the Popup window appears, type a name for your print job and click PRINT.
  • Go to a Library Printer (located to the right of the computers)
  • Swipe your DragonCard through the card reader.
  • Locate your print job by the name you chose previously. Click the PRINT button. Click LOG OFF to avoid other patrons from using your DragonCard funds.
