Laptop & Portable Power Charger Lending Kiosks

Drexel University’s first laptop kiosk was installed in the Dragons’ Learning Den in the W. W. Hagerty Library on December 4, 2012. The kiosk provides a 24-hour solution to students who want to work on projects and assignments or study at the library late into the night.

The Drexel Libraries worked with LaptopsAnytime to develop a customized laptop kiosk that holds 12 computers, which was later modified with an extension unit to offer 30 MacBook Pro computers. Drexel was the first institution to use 15-inch MacBook Pro laptops and the first to offer laptop lending in Philadelphia.

In August 2018, an updated kiosk with 12 MacBook Pro laptops and 24 portable power chargers was installed in the Dragons’ Learning Den. In March 2022, the Libraries replaced the outdated MacBook Pro computers with new Dell laptops.
