Bookmark Cafe Reopens Amidst Continuing Upgrades

March 2, 2017

The Bookmark Cafe in the W. W. Hagerty Library reopened for normal 24/7 service on Monday, February 27, 2017. The cafe was closed for three weeks while University Facilities removed the remains of the Taco Bell equipment.

Though the construction is not expected to be completed until the end of April 2017, a portion of the cafe is once again available for individual and collaborative study and eating meals. When the project is completed, additional seating and technology will be available. The flooring, ceiling and light fixtures will also be updated.

The cafe reopens in time for I am Psyched! Inspiring Histories, Inspiring Lives: Women of Color in Psychology, a pop-up exhibit from the American Psychological Association (APA). The exhibit will be on display in the Bookmark Cafe from February 27 through March 10, 2017.

Building on the success of the Data Visualization Zone, the Libraries will continue its plans to develop the former cafe as an Information Exploratorium, making it a space for students to explore and engage with information and data. This transformation of the cafe is made possible by a donation from the William W. Hagerty family. More details regarding future development will be announced over the coming months.
