Katz, Gary Childs and Lenore Hardy, participated in a grant-funded project entitled 'Increasing Parental Health Literacy to Optimize Pregnancy Outcomes,' from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, Middle Atlantic Region. The projected worked with the Philadelphia 11th Street Family Health Services Center to help educate pregnant women on health information. Kathleen demonstrated several credible and reliable websites, such as Medline Plus, and discussed criteria for evaluating the reliability of other health information sties. iPod Touch devices were using during the presentation to demonstrate the accessibility of health information using handheld devices. The 11th Street Family Health Services is a comprehensive, nurse-managed health center run by the College of Nursing and Health Professions in collaboration with the Family Practice and Counseling Network.
